About DF special: effect_nt.xvm, darken texture 44. It'll also darken Grants, but who cares? As for the particle, there's 6-7 entries that fit the description. Just a matter of bothering to find out which one it is and modifying it.
Particleentry.dat, entry 474. Playing with opt 1 and 2 (20 and 99 originally) and making the values 5/20 will make the special run along the floor. Dunno if anyone will care to test stuff out, but there you go.
